ORTU (2017), Short Film

Nikola’s research looked closely at the science of human innovation, and creative behaviours to find out what is happening under the surface of our conscious mind, in the unseen, unknown yet vital part in formulating creative ideas. ORTU, rising in latin, reflects the act of an idea rising above surface and forming a solution/creative idea in our conscious mind, this short film which explores the areas of the unseen, subconscious and the incubation process.
Through the use of material, fragments, form and colour this short film brakes narrative and structure, reflecting an abstract process. Using sound which is both peaceful and disruptive to suggest the notion of a creative process and it’s painstaking as well as calm behaviour, engaging the viewers emotions.
